Slot Machine Number Generator
Slot machines use a random number generator. Early slot machines were mechanical (think coin slots), but they still used a random number generator, in the same sense that a roulette wheel, a deck of cards, or a pair of dice are also random number generators. The RWB Ping Pong Ball Game is just like a 95% payback slot machine. Even though the outcomes in both games are chosen completely at random, each pays back 95% of the money played in the long run. A slot machine works very much like the RWB Ping Pong Ball Game. Conceptually, there is a basket of ping pong balls for each reel. This all changed in the 1980s, however, when a few particularly innovative slot developers worked out how they could use an RNG (Random Number Generator) in the context of slot machines. As soon as they worked this out they could start making video slots, where the mechanical reels were replaced by a set of digital reels that could be found on. A follow-up to my recent Slot Machine Text Generator tutorial, this time looking at a different technique and using numbers rather than characters.Part One h.
